Some of the finest and most original metal comes out of Finland and all-girl five-piece Indica are well among those ranks. They have supported Nightwish with their ethereal, grandiose music and now give unto us mere mortals ‘A Way Away’. Produced by Nightwish helmsman Tuomas Holopainen, this ghostly offering will make listeners feel as if they’ve never heard music before.

Dramatic opener ‘Islands Of Light’ is a mystical pop-metal song of siren-song vocals and waltzing strings. The spooky ‘Children Of Frost’ introduces an innate melancholy that seeps through the other songs, carried by vocalist Jonsu’s sad, saccharine voice. Creepy title track ‘A Way Away’ has the rich warmth of the winter sun, crafted of passion and cathartic purpose.

‘A Way Away’ is a feminine and powerful album. It has depth and beauty, and the romanticism of a wilting rose. There is a strong mix of different sounds and the diary-entry - like lyrics make for a somewhat personal experience. With five other albums behind them, its time Indica’s unique and spirited music hit a larger stage.

I love the new album. Not because it is english and I can understand the lyrics, but because I love the "new" sound of Indica. A lot of influence by Tuomas, but as a nightwish fan ofcourse I really don't mind at all.

Great Album! (Listened to it everyday since it arrived in the mail)
