You better hope this band have a killer live show, because this record is dull. Combining electronics anzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Sorry, fell asleep on the keyboard there. Anyway, if you can keep your eyes open listening to this, then your insomnia is beyond the realms of medical science.
Like a white label can of baked beans, there’s nothing inherently wrong with this, as compared to mighty Heinz of other bands peddling this atmospheric instrumental thing. Coming off like an influence between a neutered Pelican and the pilfered contents of Trent Reznor’s synthesiser collection, ‘2 Degrees of Separation’ is essentially the sound of beige neon. ‘Morbo 32’ tries to provide the variations on a theme-motif that is the bread and butter of the instrumental genre; it’s a shame it refuses so doggedly to stray from the path it sets out for the next eight minutes or so of its running time.
Ditto on ‘Industrial Glamour’, which can pass you by as mere background noise, ending an album that engenders a curious case of separation from the emotional impact it should be having. A montage of moments, rather than a\cohesive listening experience.
