Lamb Of God

LAMB OF GOD - RESOLUTION (9)

The most consistent band in metal return to kick off 2012 with a bang, and what a skull-cracking, girl-fucking mass of a bang it is.

Lamb of God didn’t need to prove anything to anyone – a faultless track record of sensational performances and stellar releases has seen to that – so when they follow up 2009’s 'Wrath' with an album that blows everything they’ve ever done clean out of the water, its hard not to feel a resurged sense of excitement about the US band.

'Resolution' is a triumphant milestone in LOG’s career, and although nothing here diverts dramatically from their regular stuff, never have they sounded more energised in their performance. Every aspect of the album embodies what has made Lamb of God such a defining force in contemporary metal.  From the progressed improvement of Mark Morton's signature high speed riffing – that suggests he has made a possible breakthrough in some form of guitar-based quantum physics – to the bone crunching vocal hooks of Randy Blythe setting out the counter balance to LOG's irrepressible mass.

While there was nothing particularly wrong with 'Wrath', it's hard to ignore the phenomenal improvement 'Resolution' makes in all aspects of their song writing.  Tracks like 'The Number Six' and 'Invictus' being perfect examples of the band's ability to mix all the best elements from their history to craft some of their most generally crowd pleasing material to date. Put simply; this is Lamb of God at their best – raw, intense and hungry.
