Straight after their first US headlining tour in two years, Coheed and Cambria hit the UK for three special club shows before they make an appearance at the legendary Glastonbury festival. The night gets underway as opening act These Monsters hit the stage. This strange beast of a band fuse post-rock with arty noise and with a saxophone player adding extra depth to an already accomplished sound, they don’t really sound like anything else out there. The potential is definitely there for this lot to have a very interesting future.

Coheed and Cambria kick off their show in the same way in which their latest album ‘Year of the Black Rainbow’ starts. An ambient introduction of ‘One’ gets things going followed by a head pummeling ‘The Broken’. Claudio Sanchez on lead vocals is on top form as his iconic giant hair dances around possessed and rarely do you get a glimpse of his face. For a cult band they certainly know how to draw a crowd and from the word "go", the audience are singing at the top of their voices, but there is so much more then just the music. The show that C&C put on tonight is as much a cinematic experience as it is a concert. The video projection changes from cloudscapes, to starfields, to apocalyptic images of war and destruction as displayed behind the band as ‘No World For Tomorrow’ conjures up an emotional singalong. . ‘Al The Killer’ whips the audience into a frenzy while ‘Everything Evil’ and ‘The Suffering’ provide a deafening sing-along from the sold out venue.

The ninety minute set is a well balanced blend of material from their latest album and fan favourites, but they end it all with the most epic of finales’ possible. ‘A Favor House Atlantic’ and the genius of ‘In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3’ complete the main part of the set leaving the crowd chanting for more. They return with the complex prog rock epic ‘21:13’ before ending it all with the glorious and un-mistakable ‘Welcome Home’ brings the night to a close in perfect style leaving the audience with one of the most memorable concert ever.
