Hosted by the biggest UK alternative magazine, Bizarre, the inaugural Bizarre Ball is one of the biggest and best celebrations of the alternative lifestyle in the world. Started in 2008, it has become a fixture on many a calendar and this year it did not fail to excite and titliate. With the excitable crowd serving as every facet of the exhibition of kink and fetish lifestyle, tonight features everything- and with it every type of unsurpassed perversion the minds eye could conjure. Teaming up with acts such as the hotly anticipated The Circus of Horrors, and modern punk bad-boys, Gallows, all warnings go unheeded as this shaped up to be an evening that crawls from every dark orifice on the planet.
Following the expectations of the Ball, The Clowns serve as the treat that don’t fit in anywhere- so thus fit in with this gathering of pure madness very well. With a solid set from this trio of garishly-dressed Italians, they set the tone for the evening off really well. Appealing to everyone’s inner fondness of AC/DC, Dirty DC do justice to the sleeve rock icons with an energetic performance.
The double sword swallowing, light bulb eating, pyro-messing, crucifying freak show that is The Circus Of Horrors quells the inner child of the majority of tonight’s audience with a performance of sheer sadomasochism from the internationally acclaimed freakshow.
An interesting performance tonight, from Gallows; full of energy and aggression right from the off. Frank Carter shows his obvious discomfort of being in front of a mass of scantily dressed and naked people, and doesn’t shy away from letting the crowd know that it really isn’t his thing. All that aside, the band give as good as they got. Lacking strong vocals from the cocky front man, (and at one point urinating over the crowd), the act of disobedience was more than likely ignored as it was probably something some of the crowd indulged in on a regular basis. |
